Following earlier advertisement for contractors to prequalify and bid for the construction of workshop and laboratories for the department of Petroleum Engineering, the University on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 opened financial bids submitted by the various contractors.

At a brief ceremony held at the Senate Chamber of the University, the Acting Registrar, Mr. Amiso Iniowuari, who chaired the event, remarked that the invited contractors were the ones that met the 70% benchmark out of the 25 companies that submitted technical prequalification documents.

Present at the event include the representative of the National Universities Commission, Mr. Rasheed Mustapha, a Deputy Director of Physical Planning and the Consultant Quantity Surveyor, Mr. Alayande Abiodun from Alem & Associates.

The four companies that were shortlisted for the exercise include Gbesoke Nigeria Ltd, Forstech Nigeria Ltd, Nath-Jordan Nigeria Ltd and Seagate Company Ltd.

According to the Consultants specification, the project is expected to be completed in 24 weeks with a total contract sum of N224, 832, 525.75; assuring that the contractors' submissions would be subjected to fair assessment before the job is finally awarded in line with the Procurement Act.
